Honduras Fires Immigration Chief for Expelling Brazilian Diplomat

TEGUCIGALPA The new Honduran government has fired its top immigration official for preventing a Brazilian consul from entering the country.
³In light of the undignified treatment offered to this diplomat from Brazil, the decision was made to dismiss Nelson Willy Mejia as immigration director,² Interior Minister Africo Madrid told reporters Friday, adding that newly inaugurated President Porfirio Lobo¹s administration has apologized to its Brazilian counterpart.
He said the diplomat arrived Friday at Tegucigalpa¹s Toncontin International Airport on a commercial flight from Miami, but immigration officials denied her entry and immediately put her on flight back to the United States. To Read More
